I’m an editor and writer with 20+ years in magazine, book and digital publishing. For the last 10 years, I’ve also worked as an educator (in Creative Brand Communications, and English as a foreign language). Currently based in Vietnam, I work remotely for international brands, building on bylines mostly about digital marketing, expat life, and travel and food across Southeast Asia.

I have 20+ years of experience in copy and content, mostly working for custom and consumer magazines, academic publishers, digital marketers and educational institutions. I currently write features, and create and edit content for leading publishers and content-marketing clients.

I count writing, editing, copy editing, book reviewing, and teaching as my main skills. In my former position as senior features writer at O, The Oprah Magazine South Africa, I wrote across lifestyle topics, including profiles, reviews, composite features and advice. I was the copy editor, then chief copy editor, then senior features writer and books editor at O for several years.

I'm passionate about books (whatever the form) − as ways to share ideas, encourage empathy, entertain, spark discussion. In the four years I was books editor at O, I chatted to a host of international authors, from Lionel Shriver and EL James to Ken Follett and Alexander McCall Smith, and regularly spoke on the radio as a book expert for Chai FM. I‘ve also hosted book talks with authors at the Open Book Festival and the South African Book Fair.

Since going freelance, I’ve acted as copy editor at several media houses and publishers, and written features on travel, health, finance/business and social entrepreneurship, property, food, self-help and psychology, marketing, women’s interest, and more.

At 40, I packed up my life to take what was meant to be a midlife teaching gap year in Vietnam. Covid hit halfway through, so one year extended to three, and now seven. I’ve formed incredible friendships, belong to a community, and changed as a person in so many ways.

I’m currently still teaching part time, as I continue to travel the region and write features. I can write on most topics, but my personal work explores culture, cuisine, self and place, with an interest in Southeast Asia’s evolving travel scene.

My goal is to write stories that connect travellers and locals - from hidden corners of Vietnam to expat life, solo women’s travel and cultural experiences – for global and regional publications.
